UTOPIA (an ode to the past, present and future)

UTOPIA (an ode to the past, present and future) is a 3 channel video work that meditates on the ways in which dance genres such as voguing, dancehall, house are not singular but are interwoven with one another. Using Black Diasporic music such as Techno, House, Footwerk, etc the goal is to introduce, reframe and remix various genres together. The sounds of Black Diasporic music intertwined with spoken word. The video work pays homage to the voices that are left out, forgotten or not acknowledged. As a way to reinvent an alternative world where the originators of their craft are honored.
